BREAKING NEWS: RAIDERS RE-SIGN EKEJIUBA

By Paul Wexler

The Raiders re-signed special teams standout Isaiah Ekejiuba late Saturday night, according to a front-office person.
Ekejiuba was an unrestricted free agent who the Raiders deemed a high-priority signing because of his value on special teams.
Earlier, the Raiders tendered offers to Ricky Brown, Jon Alston, Jon Condo and Hiram Eugene. Those four also are viewed as key players on Oakland’s special teams.
The Raiders special teams play arguably was the best it has been since they returned to Oakland in 1995. Coach Tom Cable wanted the core players back for another season.
Ekejiuba signed a multi-year contract. The terms weren’t announced. The Raiders finalized the deal just as Ekejiuba was about to entertain offers from other teams.
The signing marks Oakland’s first official transaction since free agency started more than 48 hours ago.
