RUSSELL FOLLOWS THROUGH
While ESPN was pretending to “break” the news about Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell missing the final Organized Team Activities session, NFL Network was busy uncovering some real news.
NFL Network reported Wednesday that Russell followed through on his promise of assembling some of the Raiders wide receivers for a week of extra practice away from the team’s year-round facility in Alameda, Calif.
The NFL Network reported that Russell paid for his receivers to fly to Alabama for the private workout, which still is in progress.
Funny how ESPN left out that little tidbit, or didn’t even bother to check into it, because it would have undermined its ability to rip Russell once again. And the “news” of Russell missing the OTA session broke a week or more ago.
Give us a week of Russell and his receivers working together away from the distractions of a full-team practice and the prying eyes of the media over one two-hour OTA session any day.
The NFL Network report said rookie Louis Murphy, Will Franklin and Todd Watkins are among the receivers who took up Russell on his offer for the opportunity to bond and improve their on-field chemistry.
This, indeed, is good news for the Raiders and Raider Nation, as well as a sign that Russell is serious about doing whatever it takes to be more than just a rich NFL player, one who wants also to be a successful NFL quarterback and team leader.
The next test comes in training camp, when Russell gets pushed by veteran Jeff Garcia, either in practice, during exhibition games or through more of Garcia’s lobbying for playing time.
The news that he has matured into more of a take-charge guy tells us that he is well equipped to handle that challenge and the others certain to confront him on his way to stardom.

NEW LEAGUE DOESN’T TUCK ITS TAIL
The upstart new football league made a bit of news Wednesday by revealing some of the ways it will differ from the big kid on the block, the NFL.
The biggest differences are some of the rules changes involved with the UFL. Not surprisingly, there’s a Raiders twist involved.
The UFL won’t recognize the so-called “Tuck Rule,” the obscure rule about what constitutes an attempted pass that cost the Raiders a playoff victory over the New England Patriots in the 2001 season.
Other rules of notes include overtime. Each team will get one possession before sudden death kicks in. In the NFL, it’s possible for a team to lose in overtime without running an offensive play.
All instant-replay rulings will be made by a designated replay official as opposed to the NFL’s policy of relying upon the on-field referee.
Quarterbacks are permitted to ground the ball without penalty, even if they are outside of the pocket.
Celebrations are permitted in the end zone and bench area, whereas the NFL has earned the moniker of the No Fun League for a reason.

I hope DHB,Shilens and Johny Lee are there. But more than anyone DHB should be there working on that deep ball all day and getting their timeing down.It seems like last season J-Russ would hang that ball up for too long because he wasn’t sure if his WRs where fast enough to get there.Turns out they where fast enough and they would have to slow down or drop back a bit and get tackled on the 20 or 30 yrd line instead of taking it to the house. That bomb to Lellie in Denver for example. But hey, we still got the win baby.Wich brings me to my next point.I “know” we grew as a team towards the end of the season not only because we where 3-6 but because we started to score in the redzone.GO RAIDERS!!!

  2. assassinrm says:

ESPN is a punk network, they continue to be the Raider Hater leader because Al won’t talk to them. That’s why there sending the B team on opening night “dike and dike” when they should have sent Chuckie back for a vist on his first MNF. But they won’t give him a chance to publicly thank Al for discovering him and giving him his first HC job.

Good to hear about JRuss, he should be at least as good as “Air Mcnair” was on the field. Hopefully he’s on the way.

And that Chargless fan that keeps posting is exactly the reason those guys get beat-up when the Raiders are in S.D and exactly the reason they won’t come into the Black Hole with that garbage! See yah in the south end zone! Light flickering Out!

  3. socalfan13 says:

Way to stay on top guys. You’ve always got the information for the Raider Nation! I’d like to know who else was there…..

  4. raw_dangles says:

    J. Russ is realizing what it takes to be a Professional QB in the league. Keep in mind, getting in sync with the WR is key. Everyone needs to be on the same sheet of music. Little things, the little things. We have the running game, we add that balance passing game we are good. Balance is the key, this is not a sprint, but a endurance run!

All news on the Raiders, bashes, rips them. ESPN is in a fued with the Raiders and think they can bring them donw. Sometimes they only report the bad… never the good. We know better what is true reporting and whats not. The only one who doesn’t bash them is Chuckie, because he was once one of us! He knows what Al is about, and what not to do to cross the line.

Good reporting, keep up the good work. We will shine once they are back on top and everyone is back to backing them. GO Raider Nation, one nation. Just win baby.

Sidenote: Raiders made a postion change on TE Chris O’Neill, on their official webpage he now listed as a LB. I think a good move, plus he might be a good one too.

  5. Oak14nd says:

That’s what I am talking about go raiders

  6. raiderfandew says:

Chris O’Neill showed his considerable talent when he played for Boise State University and I think (Hope!) he’ll make the final cut. An outstanding young man, both personally, academically and athletically. He’s got what it takes to fit the Silver & Black mould.

  7. WVRaiders says:

I would almost guarantee that Schillen, Johnny Lee and DHB are there. They just can’t tell us that or else we wouldn’t have any questions for them come monday. Also, I think O’Neill to LB is a damn good move, lets hope he makes the best of it.

    GO Raiders!!!

  8. JSpicoli says:

Trey Wingo is a tool. Complete tool. Michael Smith, however, predicted a “suprisingly good year” out of JRuss. I give him credit for original thought and not bending to what must be immense pressure at ESPN to join the giggle fest they seem to think is professional and ethical. They are setting themselves up to look real bad.

Good scoop on the locale of the JRuss private workout. Info I wanted to know.

  9. PimpAC says:

Our WR’s are going to be awesome this year GO JAMARCUS GO !!!! CUT JAVON WALERS GO RAIDERS GO !!!

  10. irjonny24 says:

great news, i think we keep walker…there is no FA receiver worth signing to replace him. besides wouldn’t we be pissed if he re-signed with the broncos and he lit it up after this surgery. who knows. what we need is a safety and a DT to improve against the run.

  11. irjonny24 says:

some more good news:”The Sporting News reports Oakland Raiders second-year RB Darren McFadden appears to be the team’s No. 1 running back and primary receiving option for the upcoming season.” thank god and now we just need to get rid of fargas to let the dmac/bush tandem unleash.

  12. GeneY63 says:

Right on JSpicolli, I also saw Michael Smith on ESPN predict J. Russell’s break out year. He talked about the Raider improvement at the end of the season and his prediction on J. Russ was based upon the touchdown passes he threw in the last two games and his passer rating being over 100. At least someone at ESPN didn’t “hate”. Props to Michael Smith. I think he will be proven right this year.

  13. dhbfan says:

Have you guys read the article about Demarcus Ware hideing from the coaches so his mentor and friend Greg Ellis can get some playing time.I have a new found respect for Ware.Don’t get me wrong I’ve always respected what he does on the field, dude is a beast. And I’m like any other Raider fan, can’t stand the Cowboys. But to hide from coaches so someone else, who you know can make plays, can get on the field when those can be your sacks, fumble recoveries etc.I mean WOW what a stand up guy.Lets show Ware a little bit of love next time he comes to the Black Hole…Not to much though:)

  14. WVRaiders says:

Agreed DHB, that makes me think better of Ware. I’m used to talking smack about him to my Dallas obsessed girlfriend. Which makes my Cowboy hatred go tenfold. I even had to buy her a Dallas Jersey once. In public! :(

  15. radrntn says:

wow r we suppose to be suprised that J-russ said he was going to do this, and he did…..get real…..TUCK BSPN!

  16. chargers4life says:

I read on Fanhouse about Javon beating the hell out of J-Brick today. Props to dixie. DirtyHairyBooger rules!!

  17. chargers4life says:

If J-Bust was a real leader he would have gone to the last OTA THEN held his little sleepaway slumber party. Pink pajamas for everybody in the Black Mole!

    GO RAIDERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. chargers4life says:

At least the Chargers know what it’s like to be in the hunt for a Superbowl title. Maybe some day the Roiders will know what this is like.

    LIGHTS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. raiders44life says:

It looks like our 2nd team qb and wideouts got together for a circle jerk, ladies we need to win at least 2 out of the first three all division games, start Garcia!!!!!!

  21. RaiderRoc says:

chargers4life lt is done.by the way win a superbowl before you talk about one.

  22. chargers4life says:

Besides, you can clearly see most of the people on this site believe the Raiders are years away from winning anything. But be patient and maybe some day they will be good.

    LIGHTS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. draiders4eva says:

chargers4life just needs to convert over to become a raider fan, what a wuss! Why are you even posting? Nothing going on in chargers land? You got our leftover wuss coach in Norv and will not get to the promise land ever! Change your screen name to something Raider related since you obviously keep up with our news and updates, you are still in the closet undercover Raider fan, come out and admit it! Bet you got Raider gear in your closet also, don’t you!

  24. irjonny24 says:

it’s ok going 8-8 and losing in the playoffs must give you a lot to be proud of. charger fans are just pissed cause they had their one chance to maybe get a super bowl and they messed it up, then hired norv turner to run ‘em into the ground.

  25. irjonny24 says:

speaking of intangibles you’re poking fun at us ’cause our QB missed an OTA practice? didn’t Tomlinson wimp out of the championship game a few years ago. i don’t think you could have kept any other star RB off the field in that situation. chargers will never win a super bowl, may as well move to L.A. and change your name.

  26. raidermomo64 says:

At least the Chargers know how to hunt for a Superbowl? WTF? When have they hunted for a Superbowl? last year? at 8-8? We’ve been in 5 sparky…..
“Maybe some day the Roiders will know what this is like.LIGHTS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Are you serious? Roiders and then you put lights out. Ummmm…..I could be wrong but isn’t Lights out Fairyman a “Roider”……This guy is stoopidly funny……You can tell he’s a young kid and he’s trying, thats why I didn’t say anything mean……

  27. irjonny24 says:

    merrimans a fag

    LIGHTS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. VikingRaider75 says:

Chargers4life, you are like a virgin going on a pimps website and talking about how tits feel like sandbags. All you know is how it feels to be in the hunt for a superbowl. You have no idea what it feels like to win one. It’s fu@king AWESOME!!! You do know how it feels to lose one though and that sucks, we as Raider fans can attest to that. So I suggest you take down your framed Asia poster, put away your Steve Austin doll and stop giving us the condescending bull sh#t.

  29. raderman says:

Good News. Too bad none of those receivers will see any playing time. Did anyone see the NFL Network report? If any of the starters were there, you would think it would have been reported. And while it is good to work on timing, Russell needs to work on throwing with pass rushers in his face.

  30. chargers4life says:

lrjohnny24 did you mean change the name like when the Oakland Raiders changed their name to the Los Angeles Raiders, or when the Los Angeles Raiders changed their name to the Oakland Raiders?

    LIGHTS OUT PERPETUAL LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. VikingRaider75 says:

Thats good Virg, I like the wounded namecaller approach much better.

I judge teams by lombardis, if don’t have one, your a perpetual loser.
    Lights on!!

  32. dhbfan says:

Ooooo, that was a good one vikingRaider75.That little fat mouth charger fan didn’t have anything to say about that one.Guess the lights finally got turned on.That is exactly the point,Lombardis man its all about Lombardis.OAKLAND RAIDERS 2009 AFC WEST CHAMPS!!!

  33. chargers4life says:

Actualyl you half-wits are the ones who like to call names. I haven’t had to do much of that yet. I guess with the lack of intelligent response that is the best you can do.

How many smart Raider fans can you fit into a phone booth?

    All of them!

    LIGHTS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. VikingRaider75 says:

I think if we were the namecallers we would be on the chargers website ending every post with JUICE UP!!!!!!!!

That was a truly fantastic joke by the way. I think you need to seriously consider a career in comedy……really, First stop…the Apollo.
