RaiderBeat.com Staff Report
In a much-overlooked radio interview, FOX-TV analyst Tim Ryan told a Bay Area radio station that former Raiders coach Jon Gruden and former Raiders senior assistant Bruce Allen are open to returning for a second stint.
Ryan made it clear that he wasn’t told as much by either Gruden or Allen but that he is confident that both would accept an overture from managing general partner Al Davis to come back to the place where they enjoyed raging success from 1999-2002 — Gruden left after the 2001 season, Allen soon thereafter.

and as far as being a fan and wanting to bitch about the team, thats o.k. but leave the wanting of al davis’s demize to come about to yourselves. he has earned respect for his contribution to football. lets see how YOU get around at his age. he’s done more for the raiders than you sitting behind your screen or arm chair thinking you could do better.
At this point in the game, I wouldn’t mind seeing any signs of improvement at all or at least attempts at improving. If the current starters aren’t getting the job done, it’s time to start moving some bodies and trying out some of the other guys. I really wouldn’t mind seeing Javon out on the field as the #2 WR. I mean, he’s healthy and he can catch better than most of the WRs we got. It doesn’t hurt to experiment to see who goes where and to see how they’d perform. I like Cable as coach, but he is a fucking Yes-man who needs to grow some balls and call things the way they need to be called. Right now, I want Cable to break Russell’s jaw to let him know how big of a disappointment Russell has been. For God’s sake, Russell is on the verge of being uttered in the sentence as Ryan fuckin’ Leaf. On 99% of his incomplete passes, Russell has no one to blame but his own fat ass. He needs to start being hard on himself when he makes mistakes as opposed to shifting blame onto his WRs. Yes, they dropped the ball, but it was a shitty pass. Every pass play begins with him. I liked Russell and I wanted him to mature into one of the great QB leaders that we’ve had in the past, Gannon, Hostetler, Plunkett, Stabler, Lamonica. But now I can see that Russell only cares about the paycheck and not about the Lombardi Trophy. I say wake his fat ass up by suspending him without pay for Conduct Detrimental to the Team. Which is his playing like shit….
i never thought gruden was a good playcaller when he was in oakland.but he is offensive minded and that would cure a lot of the raiders ailments.i say that because he would allow the running game to be used at the players strengths i.e. getting mcfadden in open space and bush as the lead back.EVERY UNEMPLOYED OFFENSIVE MINDED COACH OR COORDINATOR WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE PLAYERS THE RAIDERS HAVE ON THE ROSTER.THE PROBLEM IS AL DAVIS’ CONTROL OF THE DRAFT AND SCHEMES THAT IS THE ACHILLES HEEL.if or when ever he allows his personnel to have control of these decisions, then and only then will the raiders be able to gain respectability and start winning again.in all, keep expecting the same dysfunction.as more former coaches and players, come out and voice the dysfunction of the raiders,it will only make it harder for the raiders to FIND the savior, they’ve been looking for.
i think AL DAVIS will keep Cable as head coach, but the real question is will Cable and Marshall stay.one of them will leave.if one of the ELITE available coaches were to express interest in the raiders, would AL DAVIS loosen his grip.hell no,so the franchise will continue to be ridiculed as a joke.our next head coach would have to be a GM/HEAD COACH.i’m thinking someone like Mike Holmgren.Matt Millen would be a blockbuster and has the history AL likes.that’s right Matt Millen.
I have to think Al has to be hurting as bad as us fans at this point. IF Gruden and Allen were to come back, I’m sure they would want Mr. Davis to loosen his grip. Al wants what the rest of us want, the Raiders to be champions again, just wonder if he’s still got it upstairs to see how he is killing this great team.
Someone send Al the memo before these two change their minds.
Of course Al wants to win another Super Bowl, but he has to have all the credit for doing it.That is why Gruden got traded the first time,he told Al resign my contract during the season and Al said no so Gruden than was traded.I could not imagine what our team could become with both Gruden, and Allen back,no more retarded contracts.I like Cable, but from day one I said he’s not a X’s,and O’s type coach, nor does he have a idea of what players should play or not.I would love too see and hear the conversation Gruden would have with JaMarcus.Chucky is a X’s,and O’s type coach, and this time he will have a way younger team with descent talent. Please Al,for the love of the fans bring CHUCKY back we deserve this.

no doubt that this would be a vast improvement for the team, and the back office. I think we would still need to get somebody in to help with the draft, and Al, Bruce, and Jon, all suck at picking players.
I would Love to have coach Gruden back! “Bring back chucky ” he’s a Raider!
Davis has referred to Gruden and Shannahan as mistakes in terms of letting them go. I wouldn’t mind either on of those as coach or Coach and GM respectively.
I dont think this will happen because Al Davis believes in Cable and eventhough we are losing on the field, he believes that this can be fixed. Just like Cable they both understand that injuries have hurt this club. especially at WR and Oline. I Expect Al to give Cable atleast one more chance after this season, even if we do end up 4-12. We should draft Oline and bring in Veteran players at key positions at Free Agency. I would be up for a T.O. in the silver & black. with Schilens on the other side. maybe a QB like Delhomme or Bulger.
to dream the impossible dream, but what a sweet dream that would be….I can only hope Al can make this happen. If so I would buy season tickets again.
Cable is more like a water boy compared to Chuckie. PLEASE Davis, suck it up and get Chuckie back where he belongs. With Cable’s new troubles with the wife abuse reports, he is done with the Raiders hopefully because it’s obvious he is not qualified to be a head coach in the nfl. It’s time to realize that Davis can’t control the team and win games, the record proves it for god’s sake. Give up control and get better coaches and players or you won’t have anyone in the stands, nor would you deserve them.
I wnt to church yesterday, got on my knees and said a prayer…..please be true.
