It wasn’t long after the news broke about former Raiders coach Lane Kiffin bolting for the University of Tennessee for the University of Southern California coaching vacancy that a throng gave the golden boy a piece of their mind.
Given Raider fans can relate, we figured you might enjoy this passage from the Knoxville News Sentinel:
“Dozens of students and fans marched into the Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex on Tuesday night chanting obscenities at Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin, who was informing his players about his departure to Southern California.
“The crowd then moved to an office area where an impromptu press conference was being held for Kiffin.
“Police were called to quell the crowd, which calmed down once officers arrived.
“The crowd eventually became rowdy and were asked to disperse without incident.”

USC will be the bitch of Oregon, Oregon State, Cal & Stanford for years to come, given the mess that Caroll left that place in, regardless of Kiffin. Kiffin’s there too late to do any meaningful recruiting, albeit I bet they’ve already done well in that regard. But we, the Raiders, have bigger fish to fry than lambasting the idiot that is Kiffin. Let’s focus on getting hyperemotional morons like Herrera out of the organization, and getting a real coaching staff with real schemes.
Wex, don’t get it twisted. Raider fan was not upset with Kiffin upon his departure from Oakland. If you recall, and I know you do, Kiffin was ousted by the classic dismissal by Al Davis/teleprompter to many Raider fans dismay.
I bet Al Davis has the number to John (disgrace to the race) Herrera’s pager and Amy Trask’s 10 lb. mobile phone/carrying satchel.
These are just tell-tale signs that the Oakland Raiders offense/defense are also stuck in the ‘70-’80’s.

Besides, it’s impossible to educate myself with the situation because news coming out of Alameda it tighter than a bullfrog’s butthole. And even if I did have a clue of what’s going on in Raiderland, John Herrera will just deny until it comes to be true a couple of days later.
Al Davis should have never fired Lane Kiffin. He is a better coach than the Cable man… I would like to have seen how things would have played out if Al would have let Kiffin do things his way instead of always interfering with everything! Kiffin refused to be a puppet..Kiffin wasnt sold on Jamarcus and didnt want to play him either… That is why he is no longer in Oakland. He had the team going to right direction. He had them believing in change in Oakland.. Lane will do well at USC especially since he brought his father along with him to run the defense… The Raiders could only get so lucky to get coaches like that to run the show. Remember a little superbowl thing we did with the Bucs.. yeah.. Monte Kiffins Defense that kicked some Raider ass. And where have we been since then??? how many losses for how many years? Come on Wex.. dont go bashing ex coaches just because they are not here anymore. Have some respect.. Hope the Raiders can find coaches at least that good to come here.. Things really need to change!!!!

Al Davis may not know how to judge draft prospects but he can sure pin point a liar! Glad hes not the coach anymore.
Kiffin didn’t want to be here anyways, so it’s good that he’s gone. USC is going to be facing violations from the NCAA anyway so it’s gonna be awhile until they compete again in the Pac-10.
As far as Monte is concerned, sure his Bucs slapped us in the SuperBowl, but he’s slowing down. Remember what the Raiders did to his defense in Tampa with Russell at QB. It’s gonna take awhile for USC to be any good. Not sure Kiffin is enough of a leader or demands enough respect to get them there. I could be wrong though, we’ll see.

USC needed some one to be there when the NCAA comes down on them. For that reason, all the coaches at the USC grown-up table declined the offer. Kiffin is stupid, and thinks USC likes him. They will keep him until the sanctions have passed, then dump him for Fisher or Del Rio. Still, USC is in better shape than the Raiders. Davis has essentially given the Raiders the death penalty. They will suck until Russell is gone, and they won’t be relevant again until Davis is gone. Sad.
Al got pissed of at Lame Kiffin because 3 months into Lame’s first season he wanted to go interview for a college coaching posistion. I forget if it was Arkansas or Alabama. Then it just went downhill after that. Then Lame started acting liike a little bitch ! Al was right on for firing this freakin douche bag ! Just ask Tennesse fans ! He was making zero effort to try and win any games that season. LAME KIFFIN IS A JOKE !

Easy USC fans. Washington was just as dominate in the late 80’s and early 90’s as u have been last 5 years Then they went on probation for “lack of institutional control ” which sounds a lot like what USC faces and Washington still hasn’t recovered.

Jeff Tedford from Cal. could be a good coaching prospect for the raiders.he has experience developing QBs’ and puts out at least one good NFL player every year.
Just read that they had to bring in cops to protect Kiffin’s family, a precautionary measure !!

i personally dont understand raider fan is suppose to hate lane kiffin. is it cause AL told us that we should? i dont. i hated that he didnt get a REAL chance to coach. i think he really could have taken the team somewhere had he the ability to do so. BUT he didnt get to be the coach of this team. it was still AL. as it was with art shell, and now with cable. heres why i say this-
lane could not draft his own players. jamarcus (bust) was forced on him, being the most important.
lane could not chose his own staff. he was force to retain rob ryan who ended up fired anyway. hell, lane may have brought in monte.
lane could not control his own offense. same was for shell and cable, Al dictates the plan.
lane, like cable was forced to start jamarcus. whose absolutely terrible start sealed lanes fate.
lane, was also not provided with much of a roster, and i say provided because ALL personnel acquisitions are Al’s call, short of the late rounds in the draft.
i know this list can go on. but i personally had a lot of faith in kiffin and dont believe he was given enough time and think it was absolutely classless the way Al threw him out.
im not an SC fan, but go kiffin!

I’d put my money on Lane and his coaching staff over the Raiders coaching staff!
Al will NEVER give any coach complete control of the team (coaching staff, players and offensive/defensive schemes) and that’s why the franchise is in the position it is. EVERY year we sit on the edge of our chairs surfing the internet and ESPN to see what moves Al is going to make to improve the franchise. We sign free agents that are impressive and draft players that we think will make a difference - despite what the analysis say. Every year the end result is the same - another high draft pick next year. I’m tired of it and it won’t change until Al is six feet deep. Let’s face it…Al is NOT going to hire a Superbowl caliber coach or a GM…he will not give a coach control and he will not draft the best player available that can help us.
Just looking at the last three years…no one was talking about Jamarcus until the championship game…McFadden’s legs are too damn skinny to break tackles…DHB was unknown until he ran the fastest time for a wr at the combine.

interesting… how exactly did he “quit” on the team? as i remember it, he came into second season fired up in a different way, pissed off, getting on players asses when they didnt perform, ala chuckie. i dont see for a second where HE quit on the team, AL quit on him. jamarcus is a no talent bust. his hands were tied behind his back as to the system he could run. the big offseason acquisition deangelo hall couldnt cover the handicapped (see: royal v. hall opening day). NO coach can perform under all that.
so tell me why you hate him? cause it seems to me the only reason we of the nation are suppose to is because AL told us too. there are FAR more reasons to hate jamarcus.
as for him ditching tennessee, i would have to, the vols suck, and SC is a dream job for almost any coach, its a football factory. and when people like pete carroll hold onto the spot for a decade, you gotta take the shot when you got it.

I still don’t think Kiffen was the problem for the Raiders, heck he didn’t want to draft Russell and to me that means he knows more than the idiot running the team now. I think if dumb ass Davis would have given him some room to actually coach the team without him butting in, Kiffen would have turned us around and we wouldn’t have to deal with Cable right now, not to mention the fact that JR would be screwing up some other team now. Actually, the other team would have cut him by now!
