Florida cornerback Joe Haden said that the Raiders are one of four teams that have shown the most interest in him leading up to the 2010 NFL Draft next Thursday-Saturday.

The Raiders feature Pro Bowler Nnamdi Asomugha and Chris Johnson as their starting cornerbacks as of now, with Stanford Routt the primary backup.

Haden, 5-foot-11 and 193 pounds, has no shot at beating out Asomugha, and Johnson’s main attribute is his speed, which is Haden’s potential downside. Still, there’s something about Haden that has the Raiders ringing Haden’s phone repeatedly.

Haden has visited the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans, in addition to meeting with the Raiders. He also met with the San Francisco 49ers at his Pro Day workout.

Haden ran a sluggish 4.57-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February, which left scouts, coaches and general managers checking their stopwatches and second-guessing Haden’s worth as a first-round pick.

However, he said his slow time was the result of a back strain. He allayed some fears by clocking 4.39 and 4.45 at his Pro Day workout in Gainesville, Fla.

If Haden doesn’t go to the Browns at No. 7, he should be available when the Raiders pick at No. 8. Conventional wisdom has the Raiders taking an offensive tackle at No. 8, but managing general parnter Al Davis has a fondness for fast corners and players from Florida, so don’t rule out Haden wearing the silver and black this season.

IMA BE MAD IF WE GET HIM…..WE NEED TO FIX OUR OLINE…..IF AL GETS HIM IM NOT GANA GO TO ANY GAMES…WE AINT GANA WIN IF WE DONT FIX OR FREAKIN OLINE…BUT HES A GOOD PLAYER DAT WE DONT NEED….

I agree 100% that we need o line help… straight up that where they need to go… But to be honest this guy would not be a horrible pick. Ive been saying that we need CB help.. Chris johnson is decent but move him inside as the nickel guy and have better help next to Nhamdi would be a big help to.. Problem is we have more needs before this. Maybe trade down for o line help then pick this guy. But I wont go as far as saying I wont go to any games or hate my team for this… Who ever they pick im gonna ride wit my team and be there regardless of what happens.. Im sorry thats just my definition of a real fan.

i say trade the with the dolphins or giants,i say we trade spots with then included morrison and we will get there second, then from there,we draft joe haden in the 1st,and in the second we trade one of or seconds to ravens for gaithers, and we draft cody in the 2nd,then we draft for spikes in the 3rd,and the rest of our picks draft,ot,wr,and a fb…..we need to draft smart this year we have a good chance to win games because we have a weak shedule.

  4. RaiderEd says:

roamraider that is a great idea for our draft. We get out LT and a young shut down corner to learn from the best and a monster NT.

  5. RaiderEd says:

    We get our LT*

  6. runraiderrun says:

i say trade out of the first this year for next years first with Chicago or Carolina, two teams that don’t have first rounders this year, save the money for next years potential rookie cap.get any additional second round picks that the raiders can this year.the 2nd round is where the raiders main needs are.it has less expensive players with possible first round talent.take your pick of DT’s,CB’s,OG’s,there might even be a couple OT’s in the second round.if Russell does or doesn’t show up this year, the raiders will have two 1st round picks with a possible rookie cap.

  7. fawkraiderhaters says:

Why in the hell do we need a CB, what he’s gonna stop the run, they will plug him at DT or middle linebacker??? Such crap Al, WTH, this is why the raiders are the laughing stock of the draft, football, an organization!!! We need DT,MLB,OT, we have db’s , we need line help on both ends of the ball, oh man this is looking to be a very dark and long up and coming season.. Someone get in Oakland , fan base head over to raider headquarters and let Al and the organization know we are tired of it!!!!! Hit Al were it hurts, Pocket book!!!!!! Tired of this mess…..

  8. Ahumphers91 says:

why not take haden, our secondary is suspect with chris johnson getting picked on!! we can trade our second or third for Jared Gaither (Baltimore) where our new offensive coordinator came from! this is a win situation.

  9. 3headedmonster says:

stupidness we should be trading up for suh

  10. Most Hated says:

maybe louis murphy said something to Al

  11. caliboy4oaktown says:

I AM A HUGE NEBRASKA AND OAKLAND FAN, SO I REALLY WANT US TO GET SUH… WHAT DO YOU THINK WE WOULD HAVE TO GIVE UP TO MOVE UP IN THE DRAFT TO GET HIM? I WANT TO GET SOME THOUGHTS FROM OTHER RAIDER FANS!

  12. jennings304 says:

CONVENTION WISDOM is we take a SORELY needed OL! But, like the article points out and with Al’s delusions of years late… who knows?

WAR Al is gonna shock the world one way or another!
WAR throwing 70 yards from your knees.
WAR last title I witnessed was 27 years ago, SERIOUSLY? COME ON!

  17. 3headedmonster says:

    Trade up for suh

  18. roamraider says:

why trade up for suh,its funny how every year theres this awesome defensive tackle, but wat happens u dont here anything from them all year, look at raji last year he was this he was that, same thing with dorsey the year before that, have they dominated,it will be a gamble to trade for suh,and i doubt davis will,i cant almost gurantee suh or mcoy wont be the best dt in this years draft, there all hype and people are getting in the band wagon like they all do,and wat happens at the end of the year dissapointment, look at russell ,he was this he was that, and now looka at him everybody that was on his nuts when he got drafted are shitting on him,so if i were the raiders, they should keep there pick or trade down for more picks

we have the best CB in the game and we still lose most of our games, i hope we don’t draft this guy….whatever happened to “football is won in the trenches”???…i hear a lot of talk about Al living in the past, but at least in the past we had Otto, Upshaw and Shell…

  21. FloRaider says:

    NO !

  23. 21raiderrob says:

This is just a ploy by Haden and his people to get him drafted higher. Right now everyone is talking about the DTs OTs and QBs and his name is down in the middle of the draft projections. By doing this he creates a picture that the Raiders want him at 8, so teams will reach to grab him earlier. We NEED OT! We’d be in better shape if we took OT and DT last year too instead of WR And S. OT 1st and best player available in 2nd

I say trade Nnamdi, and swap 1st round picks with Detroit and take Suh.I’m with you Caliboy i’m a huge Husker fan myself, and went to Nebraska’s bowl game this year, and Suh is for real.He is more impressive in person.I also think Kyle Wilson is a better CB than Haden.I hope we don’t go CB with our 1st.

We all know it’s impossable to predict what Al(zhiemer) will do with the #8 pick. We all know too that it’s almost a certainty it will be something incredably LAME!!!!! Like his brilliant move last year. It still makes my blood boil a year later to think we could have had Eugene Monroe and Al being the moron that he is chooses DHB!!!!! Over the last dozen or so years the Raiders have been hands down the worst drafting team in the entire nfl period!!!! The first three rounds inparticular, they’ve actually found some good talent in rounds 4 thru 7. We’re totally screwed until Al hires a G.M. and head coach he trusts enough to let them run all football operations including the draft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Christo says:

Can he open up a running lane or block an opposing DE ?
    ~nuff said.

  30. chucka1122 says:

I think Haden will be a good NFL player, but that is not the biggest need for the Raiders right now. The Raiders need to address the line of scrimmage. They need to draft 0-line and D-line, period. It is what Al loves, he loves fast corners. The Raiders have made such poor decisions drafting over the last 7 years, I don’t know what to say. Jabust and DHB are going to be complete busts. Some of you think DHB will be a great player, but he can’t catch. At the number 7 pick, you need to draft an impact player, and DHB is far from that. The Raiders need to cut Jabust and move on from a guy that has no smarts what so ever. If the Raiders select Haden they will be drafting in the top ten again, oops, New England will be drafting in the top 10. Nice work!!!!

  31. D-Raiders says:

id love him in 2nd round but it wont happen. i just want any1 to replace 1st down routt

  32. BMUG says:

Fellas, Fellas. We’ve been in a rebuilding mode these past years. We’re literally right around the corner from success. This year we will solidify both our offensive, and defensive lines guranteed. As well as next years draft. We are set at WR, DB’s (all though there’s always room for improvement via draft/FA), TE. We get our trenches in order to attack, and deliver by drafting, or signing via FA and have our guys compete until we’re dominating, and too powerful too stop. Cut the weak, and build with the strong. It takes time to find our right fit, and as a die hard Raiders fan I see it all unfolding. Our QB’s might actually be able to produce and shock folks when we find our mold. The real test is getting our OL, and DL primarily (along with our rookies) set for competition and may the toughest, meanest, and most ready for battle , dedicated mofo’s take the field and go to war in Silver & Black. If our QB’s dont work after these improvements this offseason, well most likely a QB will be drafted this year to start a development process, and don’t rule out a better acquisition than Boller (Jason Campbell, Troy Smith, Sage Rosenfels, etc.). This year will be a big test with the massive talent this team already has. Teams in this league know we are a tough, talented team and don’t understand how our record is what it is.

Every team has had their bad, worst, and ugly dark times like we’re going through. Don’t forget history repeats itself. We will be on top again. Believe Raider Nation. We’re literally right around the corner.

    Go Raiders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. If Haden is around in the 8th barring our top guys on the draft board are gone I wouldn’t be upset if we took him. He’s very talented. I just know it’s not going to happen. Al, Cable, and Hue know we need our OL,DL, MLB, and QB positions upgraded asap.
